The Cottage Gardener was established in 2008 following my completion of the first year of a course in Medicinal Horticulture. It combines my love of informal planting of herbs,flowers and vegetables in a cottage style.This 'Controlled informality' of luscious soft planting allows the foliage and flowers of the plants to speak for itself rather than being tempered by a landscaper's ruler!
With a distinction in medicinal horticulture from Hadlow college (and having worked at the Chelsea physic Garden,Tresco Abbey gardens and Kirstenbosch botanic gardens,Cape Town) I have the scientific knowledge to make elaborate designs work.But I also have the creative instincts necessary to lay the bare bones of a beautiful garden and the skill to nurture it to maturity.
